I was impressed with works of Shohaku SOGA that I saw at the Kyoto National Museum in 2005. My works are in a casual, everyday scene, the technique of incorporating an innapropriate flat character into the same setting is the influence of Edo Period painter Shohaku SOGA(1730~1781). I don’t know anyone else from that era who was able to paint so freely on top of other peoples work, like him.
